Real Estate News Update From The North Santa Monica Market:

The more normal (pre-recession) Spring frenzy has appeared again

By John Hathorn

Traditional trends and cycles have reemerged within the Westside real estate marketplace.

For years we have told buyers and sellers that the Spring market begins in mid-February, right after the Superbowl. However, in the last couple years this market failed to materialize and there was really no rhythm or predictability.

This year we have returned to familiar patterns. The more normal (pre-recession) Spring frenzy has appeared again, to a very welcoming seller and brokerage community. We are seeing good, well priced inventory come to the open market and sell quickly. Once again multiple offer sales and offers exceeding list price are the talk of the neighborhood.

If you have been looking to buy and have been waiting for lower prices or lower interest rates, right now appears to be the time to strike. Waiting any longer could prove to be risky for serious buyers looking to make a move. Of course, only time will tell — but all signs point to a re-energized, very active market.
