Malibu DUI Checkpoint Nets Five Drunk Driver Arrests On Friday Night:

A DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint held Friday night in Malibu netted five DUI arrests, 14 driver’s license citations, and eight vehicles were impounded.

The checkpoint was held at Pacific Coast Highway and John Tyler Drive in Malibu from 9:30 p.m. until 3:30 a.m.

The team consisted of nine sheriff’s deputies and six reserve deputies with the aid of ten Disaster Communication Volunteers.

The checkpoint was part of an California Office of Traffic Safety Grant for the City of Malibu.

The following is the breakdown of checkpoint statistics from Friday night:

VEHICLES PASSING THROUGH CHECKPOINT: 1174

DRIVERS CONTACTED: 1005

DRIVERS GIVEN SOBRIETY TESTS: 11

DRIVERS LICENSE CITATIONS: 14

DUI ARRESTS: 5

VEHICLES IMPOUNDED: 8

VEHICLES RELEASED (Previously impounded prior to 2012 law): 5
