Santa Monica Stabbing Suspect To Face Mental Competency Status Hearing:

Courtney Anthony Robinson

A mental competency status hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20 for the man suspected of stabbing a 58-year-old homeless man in Santa Monica on July 17.

Courtney Anthony Robinson, 37, is also suspected of stabbing two other homeless people – a man in Downtown LA at Third and Main streets on July 3 and the other a woman in Hollywood on July 19.

Robinson allegedly stabbed the Santa Monica homeless man using a large knife while the victim was sleeping on a bus bench in front of the Goodwill Store at 530 Santa Monica Boulevard.

A preliminary hearing was held today at the Criminal Courts Building in downtown LA.

Attorneys for Robinson asked and were granted their request to have him evaluated to determine if he is mentally fit to stand trial.

Robinson allegedly left typed “death warrants” after stabbing each of the three victims with a large knife. His alias on the notes were allegedly signed David Ben Keyes.

Robinson plead not guilty to attempted murder on July 25.

All three victims were aged in their 50s and they all survived.

Robinson could face up to life in prison if convicted.
