A 27-year-old homeless man from San Diego was arrested near the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, Dec. 1 for refusing to cooperate with police after crossing the road against a red light.
At 1:50 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were on patrol in the Downtown area when they spotted a man make the illegal crossing at the intersection of Second Street and Colorado Avenue.
The officers caught this man in the 100 block of Colorado Avenue and questioned him about the violation.
The man refused to identify himself verbally, but eventually showed officers his identification.
The officers conducted a records check and discovered this man had an outstanding warrant.
The officers informed this man about the warrant and he told them that the warrant was the reason he would not cooperate.
Based on the vehicle code violation, the warrant, and his refusal to initially cooperate, he was placed under arrest.
This San Diego-based homeless man was charged with resisting officers, crossing against a red light, and a narcotics warrant.
Bail was set at $35,000.
