Santa Monica Woman, 51, Arrested For Scratching, Punching Her Boyfriend: Alert Police Blotter: Cat Scratch Fever.

A 51-year-old Santa Monica woman was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 12 after scratching and punching her boyfriend during an argument.

At 9:26 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police department were called out to the 1000 block of Fourth Street after they had received a report of a domestic violence incident, or a 273.5 (a) as this offense is referenced in the California Penal Code.

When the officers arrived they saw a woman, and also noticed a man present.

The man was flagging the police down.

The officers spoke with the woman, and discovered that she and the man (who had flagged down the police) were in a dating relationship, and on that evening they had been involved in an “argument.”

The officers also conducted an interview with the male half of this pair and discovered that during the course of the “argument” the man had attempted to gather his belongings in order to leave.

The woman was displeased that the man would want to do this, so she expressed her displeasure by scratching him on several parts of his body.

The woman followed this up by punching the man in the face and then kicking him several times.

The man suffered a number of minor injuries but did not accept treatment for them. The officers arrested this woman and she was charged with domestic violence.

Bail was set at $50,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
