Eleven days of work begins today to remove existing sidewalks on the Santa Monica Pier Bridge to create a wider, single pedestrian walkway on the north side of the bridge.
A concrete barrier will be installed between the vehicle lanes and pedestrian walkway until the expected completion date of March 22, 2013.
The enhanced width sidewalk on the north side of the bridge is intended to better accommodate the volume of pedestrians traveling to and from the pier.
Enhanced signage and roadway markings will be also be added.
