Santa Monica High School hosted a track and field meet at home against Hawthorne High School Thursday afternoon in a meet that saw many Vikings achieve personal best times in the track and field events.
Samohi Track and Field Head Coach Tania Fisher said that winning is just part of the game for the Vikings.
“After spring break the Samohi track team got back to business winning their dual meet against Hawthorne,” said Fischer. “There were many fine performances. Many had their personal best of the season.”
800 meter specialist Eric Gironda was singled out by Fischer as having an exceptionally good day dipping under two minutes in the Boys Varsity 800 meter race.
But according to Fischer, the Samohi Track and Field team will face some difficult opponents soon.
“The next two meets will be tougher as we face rival Beverly Hills this week and Culver City next week,” said Fischer.
Santa Monica High School looks forward to their next rival with the meet away against Beverly Hills Friday with the time TBA.
