A 38-year-old Inglewood man is being held in Inglewood Police Department Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail after allegedly killing a Santa Monica mother in a hit-and-run incident on Saturday night.

According to reports, Santa Monica resident Elisa Alvarez, 37, was in the 300 block of Oak Street between Nectarine and Olive streets in Inglewood at 10:08 pm Saturday when she was struck by a pick-up truck after she had helped place her cousin’s child in a car seat.

Jesus Cazares turned himself in to police on Sunday afternoon; the investigation is ongoing.

He pleaded not guilty to one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident and one misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter on Tuesday.
