It’s been a tough season for the New Roads boys’ basketball team. The Jaguars are winless so far in Coastal League play, and has recorded just one victory on the season.
Despite their 1-13 overall record prior going head-to-head with Rolling Hills Prep in a Costal League matchup, New Roads have played tough throughout the season and has been real close to notching a couple of more wins under their belt.
It takes a lot of grit and determination to keep fighting and battling to play opponents week in and week out while going through a rough patch. The Jaguars keep coming back. The Jaguars put up 59 points against Wildwood, the team’s highest scoring output of the season, but came up a little short to get the win, falling to the Wolves, 68-59.
A couple of weeks ago, on Jan. 15, in a game against California Academy of Math & Science, dropped a 44-42 decision to the Rebels. In fact, New Roads got off to a promising start against Rebels, taking a 13-5 first quarter lead in the contest.
But the Jaguars were outscored in the middle periods, which created a separation between the two teams at the end of the game.
