A 22-year-old Los Angeles woman was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 26 after leaving a Santa Monica restaurant without paying, then assaulting the bartender who chased after her down the street.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to 1402 Second Street at 10 pm on this day after they had received a report of a fight. When they arrived the officers encountered staff from the nearby Trastevere Restaurant who had detained a rather drunk woman.
The officers discovered that this woman had visited the restaurant, consumed some food and then left the restaurant without paying for it.
Furthermore some staff members had followed this woman and she had apparently slapped one of them (the bartender) in the face.
The officers gave the woman specific instructions but she was belligerent and uncooperative and did not do as she was told.
The bartender who had been assaulted was desirous of prosecution so the officers arrested this LA resident and she was subsequently charged with assault, battery upon a police officer, obstructing a police officer, drunk in public, and an outstanding DUI warrant.
Bail was set at $30,000.
