X-Men: Days Of Future Past has trounced Godzilla in the battle of the gargantuan movies today.
The latest X-Men flick was on track to sell $111 million in tickets in North America over the four-day weekend that includes Memorial Day in the U.S., according to industry figures gathered by Rentrak.
Godzilla was estimated to sell $39.4 million in tickets this weekend, but no tears should be shed for the big scaly beast from Japan. It has racked up a gargantuan $156.8 million in domestic sales in 11 days, and has stomped past the $300 million mark worldwide.
Blended debuted with $19.1 million in estimated sales in the U.S. and Canada.
Rounding out the 10 most-popular films in the U.S. and Canada, as estimated by the studios and collated by Rentrak, were Neighbors ($17.2 million), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($10 million), Million Dollar Arm ($8.7 million), The Other Woman ($4.5 million), Rio 2 ($3.3 million), Chef ($2.9 million), and Heaven Is For Real ($2.8 million).
