Santa Monica Police Arrest Hollywood Man Who Threatened City Employee:

A 22-year-old man from Hollywood was arrested on Friday, June 6, after threatening a city employee and challenging other citizens to fight.

An officer of the Santa Monica Police Department, who was on routine patrol in the area of Ocean Avenue, was requested to attend the beach bathrooms located at 2030 Ocean Avenue in order to investigate a report of disturbing the peace at 8:10 pm on this day.

Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the reporting party, a Santa Monica city maintenance employee, who told the officer what had happened.

Apparently, the city employee had attended the bathrooms in order to lock them up for the evening and had at that time been confronted by the suspect who has allegedly threatened to “kick his [the city employee] ass.”

The suspect had left the scene upon the arrival of the officer.

The officer was about to leave when a citizen arrived and informed the officer that he had just been threatened to a fight by what appeared to be the same suspect.

This witness reported the suspect as being nearby still yelling and threatening other citizens to engage in combat.

The citizen was desirous of a private person’s arrest so the officer obliged and went in search of this suspect.

The officer found the suspect a short distance away and duly arrested this man. He was later charged with disturbing the peace.

Bail was set at $500.
