Nominations Open July 14 For Santa Monica City Council, SMMUSD Board, SMC Board:

Want to serve on the Santa Monica City Council? Or maybe the Rent Control Board, Santa Monica College Board of Trustees, or Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education?

The first step is to nominate for the Nov. 4 general election.

The Santa Monica City Clerk’s office has given official notice, announcing that the nomination period for these offices begins on July 14, 2014, and closes on August 8, 2014, at 5 pm.

However, if an incumbent whose term is up does not file to run again, the deadline for all candidates is extended five days – until Aug. 13.

To view the official notices, visit www.smgov.net.

Two candidate workshops will be held on July 14. This workshop is on the first day of the nomination filing period.

Potential candidates interested in running for office will have the opportunity to review the forms they will need to file with the City Clerk’s office.

Candidates will also receive an election guide, information about new election laws, Nomination (Petition) Papers and have the chance to ask any questions that they may have.

Candidate Workshop

— Hosted by the Santa Monica City Clerk’s Office

— Santa Monica City Hall Council Chamber, 1685 Main Street, Room 213

— Monday, July 14, 8:30 am and 4:30 pm
