A fire at a Malibu house belonging to actor Pierce Brosnan resulted in more than $1 million in damage, authorities said today.
The fire broke out in a garage of the residence in the 31000 block of Broad Beach Road at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman. Fifty firefighters had the blaze knocked down in 35 minutes, he said.
“Damages to the structure, garage and its contents were estimated to be over 1 million dollars,” according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, which reported that there were no injuries.
Broadcast footage from the scene showed Brosnan, a 61-year-old Irish actor, speaking to a firefighter outside his home.
Pittman said the cause of the fire was under investigation. Anyone with information about the case was urged to call the sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail at (323) 881-7500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
