A 51-year-old Santa Monica woman was arrested on Friday, Feb. 13, after ripping off her husband’s shirt during an argument.
An officer of the Santa Monica Police Department was called out to a residence in the 1200 block of California Ave. at 6 pm after a disturbance had been reported at the address.
Upon arrival the officer noticed there was a male and a female standing inside the residence.
The female had a cut to her hand and was also was crying.
The officer asked the woman to exit the building so that the officer could speak with her.
The woman said that she had been involved in an argument with the man because she believed that he had been cheating on her with other women.
She said that she had ripped the man’s shirt off his back and had thrown some items around as a way of displaying her anger towards the man.
The officer returned to the inside of the residence and saw that a table had been overturned and that there were items strewn around the property.
The officer then spoke with the man inside the residence who confirmed that the woman had thrown things around the residence and had also ripped the shirt off his back.
He added that the woman had not, however, hit him.
The man did not complain of any physical pain, and did not exhibit any visible physical injuries.
Based upon the fact that the woman had ripped the shirt off the man’s back the officer arrested this resident and she was charged with domestic violence.
Bail was set at $50,000.
