About 160 professionals shared career insights with Santa Monica High School’s junior class (all 740 Samohi juniors) during 2015 Career Day on Tuesday.
From 8:30 am to 1 pm at Samohi, 160 professionals with a broad range of backgrounds including arts, science, education, criminal justice, entertainment, and communication participated in panels held throughout the day.
The event kicked off with an assembly for all juniors in Barnum Hall, featuring a dynamic interactive presentation by Samohi alumnae Greg Morena.
The event was produced through a partnership between the City of Santa Monica, Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District/Samohi, Samohi Alumni Association, Regional Occupational Program, and student-run Ambassador Club.
Panelists were recruited by the Alumni Association, PTA, Chamber of Commerce, City of Santa Monica, Santa Monica High School, PTSA, Jewish Vocational services, Chrysalis, Santa Monica College, and other agencies.
The event met goals of Santa Monica’s multi-agency Cradle to Career Initiative to ensure that children in Santa Monica have the ability to thrive in school and beyond.
