Latest police news and updates.

A 67-year-old man remains in critical condition today after being struck Sunday afternoon while crossing the road in the 1300 block of 2nd Street (near Arizona Ave.) by a suspected drunk driver.

Santa Monica police Sgt. Rudy Camarena told The Mirror the department received multiple 911 calls at about 4:30 pm Sunday.

“When officers arrived they found a male victim who was unconscious but breathing,” Camarena said. “Based on the severity of injuries, the Fire Department responded and transported the victim to an area hospital. The victim sustained head trauma, a fractured pelvis and arm, and ruptured bladder.”

Camarena said the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Brittany Boivin, was driving a 2015 Mazda 3 who showed “signs of intoxication.”

“The driver was arrested for suspicion of felony driving under the influence,” Camarena said. “Further investigation is still pending.”

The SMPD’s major accident response team was on scene until about midnight Sunday.
