Actor Joshua Morrow will start from the pole for today’s Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pro-Celebrity Race.
Morrow, who portrays Nicolas Newman on the CBS daytime drama “The Young and The Restless,” completed one lap of the 1.97-mile, 11-turn street circuit surrounding the Long Beach Convention Center in one minute, 47.446 seconds Friday.
Starting alongside Morrow on the front row is Raul Mendez, best known for his role as Victor “Chacorta” Casillas in the Telemundo telenovela “El Senor de los Cielos,” who qualified in 1:48.062.
Actor Alfonso Ribeiro, who won the race in 1994 and 1995, had the best qualifying time among the five-driver professional field, 1:44.449. Ribeiro is considered a professional because of his past victories.
The professional field starts 30 seconds behind the 13-car celebrity field.
All the drivers drive 210-horsepower Scion FR-6 cars.
The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race will also be held today, along with the drifting competition rounds and qualifying for Sunday’s IndyCar Series and Indy Lights races and a concert by Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil.
