Firefighters Deliver Joy At UCLA Medical Center Santa Monica:

For the seventh year

For the seventh year, more than a dozen firefighters from the Santa Monica Fire Department came to UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica on Monday to distribute toys – with help from Santa – to sick kids.

The firefighters raised money and wrapped the gifts themselves, and went to the hospital in their biggest truck.

Fire Department Captain James Altman said the annual visit provided an opportunity for the department to independently take care of their community.

“We do it because we want to do it,” Altman said. “We don’t expect any public funds to support it.”

The gifts are collected at the Fire Department’s Christmas party; each firefighter brings a gift.
