Registration is now open for the 2016 California Senior Games Championships, a series of competitive sporting events for athletes ages 50 and older from May 27 to June 26.
The California Senior Games Championships are qualifying events for the biennial National Senior Games that be will held in June 2017 in Birmingham, Alabama.
“There is no limit to what today’s mature men and women can accomplish,” said Cynthia Rosedale, vice chair of the California Senior Games Association. “From their 50s to their 90s, these remarkable athletes achieve their personal best and prove that physical activity is the key to a long, happy and healthy life.”
Events include archery, badminton, basketball, billiards, bowling, cycling, disc golf, fun walk, golf, horseshoes, lawn bowling, pickleball, power lifting, power walking, push-ups, race walk, racquetball, road race, shuffleboard, soccer, softball, strength challenge, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
Deadlines and entry fees vary for the competitions in nearly 30 categories at 24 venues in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

The California Senior Games Championships are organized through the Pasadena Senior Center; the National Senior Games Association is a nonprofit member of the U.S. Olympic Committee and governs the National Senior Games, the largest multisport event in the world for seniors.
