Beyond the Lines Gallery, located in unity G8 at the Bergamot Station Arts Complex, opened its newest exhibit featuring miniature works of art Saturday, May 27, featuring hundreds of works by more than 80 different artists on a canvas 6” x 6” or smaller.
“I wanted to create an exhibit that incorporated a lot of local artists with a lot of different themes and styles of work in once space,” said Brittney Davis, the gallery’s owner and art director.
The exhibit’s many works covered a wide range of artistic mediums, with traditional paintings, photographs and mixed media pieces all lining the walls, including some works smaller than the exhibit’s standard 6” x 6” size.
Of the artists exhibiting, Davis explained that about half are exhibiting in the Beyond the Lines Gallery for the first time, while about five of the artists are exhibiting works for the first time ever.
“It was interesting the variety of work that I got, from the way they framed it to the medium,” said Davis. “Seeing artists’ work that’s usually three to four feet in a six inch size was really great.”
The gallery regularly hosts group shows centered on around a theme. Some themes in the past have included dog and cat, the female figure, dance and portraits. An upcoming exhibit on June 9 is titled the Wild Animal Art Show, and will feature photography and paintings of the outdoors and wildlife.
