Death by suicide occurs Thursday morning

Thursday morning a man killed himself under the Santa Monica, the fifth individual to take their own life in a public location in Santa Monica over the past year.
According to the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD), officers responded to the 1600 block of the beach around 6:30 a.m. on November 21 and found a man who had hung himself under the pier.
The case is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles County Coroners office. No further details are available.
Since September 2018 and August 2019 five individuals have now died by suicide in public Santa Monica locations.
In August 2019 a man died by suicide after jumping off parking structure 2 in Downtown Santa Monica. In April 2019, a man died by suicide after jumping from the parking structure at Broadway Avenue and 4th Street Thursday. September 2018, a man jumped off Parking Structure 4 and in December 2018, a woman died after jumping off the same structure.
In October 2019 police were able to talk an individual out of jumping from a downtown parking structure.
