By Sam Catanzaro

Thursday morning a man killed himself under the Santa Monica, the fifth individual to take their own life in a public location in Santa Monica over the past year.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD), officers responded to the 1600 block of the beach around 6:30 a.m. on November 21 and found a man who had hung himself under the pier.

The case is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles County Coroners office. No further details are available.
