Man Attempts to Cut Throat at St. Monica’s Coffee Shop

Victim in stable condition following Monday morning incident

A man is in stable condition after cutting himself in the throat at the St. Monica’s church coffee shop Monday morning.

According to Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD), Monday morning around 9:22 a.m., officers responded to a report of a male that cut himself in the neck area with a “sharp object” while at Holy Grounds, the coffee shop located on the property of St. Monica’s Catholic Church.

“Officers arrived at the scene and contacted a male bleeding from the neck. Officers rendered first aid and summoned the Santa Monica Fire Department,” Flores said.

A single razor blade was located near the subject, according to Flores.

The subject was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. As of 5 p.m. Monday, the male was listed as stable.

According to Flores, the man appeared to be homeless.
