Santa Monica Brew Works and 10 Speed Coffee Collaborate on New Breakfast Brew

Local Craftmanship Meets Flavor Innovation in the Perfect Blend of Coffee and Beer

By Dolores Quintana

Santa Monica Brew Works (SMBW) proudly announces its latest coffee-shop collaboration, teaming up with local 20th Street neighbors, 10 Speed Coffee. The partnership unveils the newest iteration of “Breakfast Brew” – a delectable Golden Mocha Porter infused with cocoa nibs, vanilla bean, and locally sourced cold brew coffee.

“Some things are just better together,” remarks Avery Colomb, SMBW Head Brewer. “The synergy between coffee and craft beer is no secret, but adding chocolate takes this brew to another level of deliciousness.”

Strategically located just two blocks apart, both independently owned and operated businesses, SMBW and 10 Speed Coffee, share a common ethos centered on community and craftsmanship. Scott Francis, SMBW Co-Founder, President & CEO, emphasizes, “The spirit of craft beer is rooted in local culture. Local and independent businesses shape the character of this city.”

Gideon Kleinman, 10 Speed Coffee’s Head of Operations & Branding, expresses their commitment to being a dynamic and inclusive part of the neighborhood. “We aim to bring people together through a shared love of great coffee and an active lifestyle. And we often find ourselves winding down with a pint at the brewery after a long day in the café.”

Both specialty coffee and craft beer share similarities in production, flavor profiles, and roasting expertise. For “Breakfast Brew,” cocoa nibs were brewed with Vienna malt, finished with Madagascar vanilla bean and a touch of chamomile for a silky-smooth finish. 10 Speed’s Cold Brew adds an invigorating aroma and hint of butterscotch, containing only a fraction of caffeine compared to full-strength cold brew coffee. The result is a 5.0% ABV delight.

SMBW Marketing Director Johnny Wardell notes, “Both coffee and craft beer can be considered universal languages. That’s what makes this collaboration so special.”

Responsible sourcing and micro-batch roasting define 10 Speed Coffee’s commitment to delivering the highest quality cup of coffee. 4-pack 16 oz cans of “Breakfast Brew” are available at Santa Monica Brew Works’ Tasting Room (1920 Colorado Ave, Santa Monica, CA). For a limited time, the brew is on draft at 10 Speed Coffee’s sister café, Pedalers Fork (23504 Calabasas Rd, Calabasas, CA).
