Lane Closures Expected on PCH Amid Lane Realignment Construction

Caltrans Closed the Right Lane for Safety After the “Tramonto Slide” Which Took Place in February

By Zach Armstrong

Since Tuesday May 28 and through the morning of Friday, May 31, construction will be occurring on the Pacific Coast Highway to create a second lane on northbound State Route 1 at Porto Marina Way, north of Sunset Blvd. in Pacific Palisades.

At least one lane will remain open during construction in each direction of PCH between Sunset Blvd. and Coastline Drive from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) closed the right lane for safety after the “Tramonto Slide” which took place in February. The damage, according to the department, was further saturated by multiple storms the following month. By Friday morning, Caltrans says PCHG will be realigned to have two lanes open in each direction at Porto Marina Way near the Tramonto Slide.

The total cost of the lane realignment project is about $3.35 million, which is funded through SHOPP, according to the department. The contractor is Interstate Civil Construction.
