The Driver Reached 120 mph Speeds, Covering The Distance from Downtown LA to SM
A high-speed police pursuit that began in downtown Los Angeles ended in Santa Monica on Tuesday night with a crash and the arrest of two suspects, according to a report from ABC7.
The chase started just after 8 p.m. as Los Angeles police pursued a suspect driving a reportedly stolen sedan westbound on the 10 Freeway, according to officials. AIR7 footage showed the vehicle weaving dangerously through traffic and using the shoulder of the freeway to pass other cars, the local station reported.
The driver reached speeds exceeding 120 mph, covering the distance from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica in just a few minutes.
The pursuit moved onto surface streets, where the suspect collided with another vehicle near 34th Street and Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica. Despite the crash, the driver continued fleeing before abandoning the vehicle in a parking lot near Donald Douglas Loop North and 31st Street, close to Santa Monica Airport.
Both the driver and a passenger attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended after a brief search.
Authorities confirmed the sedan had been reported stolen, ABC7 reported.
