The suspect, matching video footage from an arcade, was taken into custody

Santa Monica Police Department officers arrested a suspect Thursday following two arson incidents at the Santa Monica Pier, authorities said. The arrests occurred between June 22 and June 28.

The first incident began when Harbor Services Officers observed employees at Playland Arcade putting out a fire on the property, prompting an arson investigation. While officers were still on scene, a witness reported seeing the same individual ignite a second fire at the pier’s west end observation deck. That fire was also extinguished, and the suspect, matching video footage from the arcade, was taken into custody.

Details on the suspect’s identity and charges were not immediately released.
