Caltrans Bridge Work Triggers Precautionary Advisory

Residents in sections of Malibu are being urged to boil tap water before use after a supply disruption linked to a Caltrans bridge replacement project at Solstice Canyon Creek, officials said Thursday.

Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29 announced the precautionary notice after a low-pressure incident in the system, which can increase the risk of contaminants entering the water. The advisory affects customers:

  • West of Corral Canyon Road and Solstice Canyon Road
  • Excluding residents in Trancas Canyon and Latigo Canyon

A detailed map of the impacted area is available at lacounty.pw/bwn29.

Officials recommend boiling water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or preparing food. The notice was issued in coordination with the State Water Resources Control Board to reduce the risk of stomach or intestinal illness from possible contamination.
Free bottled water is available to affected residents at the following locations:

  • 23533 W. Civic Center Way (next to Malibu Library), open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Malibu High School, 30215 Morning View Drive, in front of the administration building in the bus lane, until 6 p.m.

The boil water order will remain in place until testing confirms the water meets safety standards. Customers will be notified when the advisory is lifted.
