Douglas Day Event to Honor LA Wildfire First Responders

The event will honor Santa Monica’s aviation heritage and the legacy while paying tribute to the first responders who battled the Los Angeles wildfires

The Spirit of Santa Monica will host Douglas Day 2025, a free community celebration, on Sunday, September 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Atlantic Aviation, Santa Monica Airport, 2828 Donald Douglas Loop N. 

The event will honor Santa Monica’s aviation heritage and the legacy of Donald Douglas while paying special tribute to the first responders who battled the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.

Santa Monica Mayor Lana Negrete will present commendations at 1:00 p.m. to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Santa Monica Fire Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Los Angeles City Fire Department, and other agencies for their critical roles in firefighting and recovery efforts. 

The event, led by Spirit of Santa Monica Board Chair Ben Marcus, will feature aircraft displays with vintage planes and future mobility innovations, STEAM-powered discovery zones for youth, recruitment and community booths hosted by first responders and local organizations, plus live music, food trucks, and family-friendly entertainment.
