The Gourmandise School Launches Kitchen Club for Young Chefs This Fall

Six-Week Series at Santa Monica Place Teaches Kids Hands-on Cooking Skills

The Gourmandise School at Santa Monica Place is introducing a new after-school program this fall aimed at inspiring the next generation of home chefs.

Called Kitchen Club, the six-week series is designed for children ages 8 to 13 and runs Mondays from Oct. 13 through Nov. 17. The classes provide a hands-on environment where kids work in pairs to prepare recipes completely from scratch, building practical kitchen skills while having fun.

Each session focuses on a different culinary theme, including Bake Sale Bests, Breakfast Pastries, Halloween Treats, and French Macarons. Students will bring their creations home to share with family and friends.

“Kitchen Club is more than just a cooking class,” the school said in a statement. “It encourages creativity, teamwork, and confidence while sneaking in lessons in math and science through the magic of cooking.”

In addition to Kitchen Club, The Gourmandise School offers Parent & Child classes for children ages 6 to 11. These 2.5-hour sessions give families the opportunity to bond while learning to make dishes such as homemade pasta, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, and French macarons.

Upcoming classes include:

  • French Macarons – Saturday, Sept. 27, 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
  • Breakfast Pastries  – Saturday, Oct 4, 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
  • Halloween Treats  – Saturday, Oct 26, 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

The Gourmandise School’s programs are taught by professional chef-instructors and focus on using fresh ingredients while fostering a supportive and educational atmosphere.
