The move comes after the Whole Foods which formerly occupied the space near the 405 Freeway closed on Oct. 13
Lazy Acres Natural Market, a Southern California-based grocer specializing in organic produce and wellness products, will take over a former Whole Foods location in West Los Angeles, with construction set to begin early next year and an opening targeted for fall 2026.
The move comes after the Whole Foods at 11666 National Blvd. near the 405 Freeway closed on Oct. 13, ending its run at the site. A Lazy Acres spokesperson confirmed the plans in an email to media, noting limited details but expressing optimism about the timeline.
Founded in Santa Barbara in 1991, Lazy Acres operates six stores in the region, including locations in Hermosa Beach, Los Feliz, Mission Hills, Long Beach and Encinitas. The West L.A. site would mark its seventh, expanding its footprint into a bustling neighborhood with easy freeway access.
The closure and transition follow Whole Foods’ announcement of a nearby relocation to 3443 S. Sepulveda Blvd. in Palms, where the company is redeveloping a former Albertsons building into a new store expected to open in September 2026.
