Officials attributed the results to transfer admission guarantees, the Scholars Program and events such as college fairs
Santa Monica College sent 995 students to University of California campuses in the 2024-2025 academic year, maintaining its position as the top transfer feeder among California community colleges for the 35th consecutive year, according to UC data released this week.
The college also remained the leading source of African American and Latinx transfers to the UC system, with 59 and 214 students respectively. UCLA received the most SMC transfers at 437, followed by UC San Diego with 162 and UC Santa Barbara with 112.
SMC ranked first among community colleges for transfers to the University of Southern California (126 students) and Loyola Marymount University (90 students). Outside New York, it continued as the top community college feeder to Columbia University, with 23 students enrolling after 41 were admitted.
Combined, SMC transferred 1,991 students to UC and California State University campuses, placing fourth statewide in that category.
College officials attributed the results to programs like transfer admission guarantees with several universities, the Scholars Program for first-generation and underserved students, and events such as college fairs and nursing school panels.
