LACMA Announces 2026 Exhibitions Featuring Soccer Art, Modern Gifts and Film Installations

New Exhibitions in 2026 Explore Animation, Film Fragments and Chinese Dress History

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has scheduled several exhibitions for 2026, including shows focused on soccer-themed animations, modern art gifts and a film installation by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.

“Fútbol Is Life: Animated Sportraits by Lyndon J. Barrois, Sr.,” timed with the World Cup in Los Angeles, features miniature sculptures and animations made from gum wrappers and other materials depicting soccer moments. It runs Feb. 15-July 12.

“Village Square: Gifts of Modern Art from the Pearlman Collection” displays nearly 50 paintings, sculptures and works on paper by artists including Cézanne, Degas, Manet, Modigliani and Toulouse-Lautrec from the Henry and Rose Pearlman Collection. Six works will remain at LACMA after the show, which ends July 5.

“SUEÑO PERRO: A Film Installation by Alejandro G. Iñárritu” uses archived film fragments from his 2000 movie “Amores Perros” in a multisensory setup with 35mm projectors. It runs Feb. 22-July 26.

“Fashioning Chinese Women: Empire to Modernity” traces changes in Chinese women’s dress from the Qing Dynasty to the 1960s through more than 70 ensembles. It opens June 14 and closes Oct. 25.

Other ongoing or extending shows include “Collecting Impressionism at LACMA” through January 2027 and “Deep Cuts: Block Printing Across Cultures” through September 2026.
