Nonprofit-owned bakery will feature sourdough, French pastries, and seasonal organic offerings.

Louma Bakery is preparing to open in Santa Monica at 3223 Wilshire Blvd. with a concept that blends artisan baking and community-centered employment. A specific opening date has not yet been announced, but the bakery has an Instagram page that has made the announcement on January 30.

The forthcoming bakery is already hiring and through the employment postings we learned that the bakery will produce sourdough, baguettes, rye bread and other specialty loaves, alongside Danish and French-style pastries. Seasonal grab-and-go items made with organic, locally sourced ingredients are also planned. The culinary approach combines traditional European baking techniques with Mediterranean influences.

Additionally, according to the posting, Louma Bakery is built as a nonprofit-owned business, Louma is structured around a broader social mission. The bakery is designed to create professional opportunities for individuals with learning and developmental differences, integrating workforce training with daily operations.

Leadership said the workplace culture will emphasize patience, respect and collaboration, with team members encouraged to grow their skills in a supportive environment. Hiring is underway for the inaugural staff as the company builds its kitchen and prepares for launch.
