The Valentine’s Day weekend production explores love, prophecy, and power through music and movement.

The Getty Villa will host the premiere of Delphi, a new musical comedy set in ancient Greece, during a three-night run over Valentine’s Day weekend.

The production, presented by Theatre Movement Bazaar in collaboration with the Getty, is scheduled for evening performances at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, Saturday, Feb. 14, and Sunday, Feb. 15, inside the Getty Villa’s indoor auditorium. Tickets are priced at $35 and include a post-performance reception featuring sweets and refreshments. Reservations are available online.

Written by Richard Alger, “Delphi” centers on the waning influence of the Oracle of Delphi, once revered as the ancient world’s most powerful source of prophecy. As faith in Apollo’s predictions falters, the story explores how love, ambition, and survival collide when personal desire and the promise of fame and fortune threaten long-standing bonds. The production blends music, dance, and comedy as characters grapple with questions of trust, belief, and loyalty.

The musical highlights four classical Greek concepts of love — Eros (romantic love), Philia (friendship), Storge (familial love), and Agape (divine love) — weaving them into a narrative that tests relationships between old friends as rekindled attraction stirs new tensions. The show is directed and choreographed by Tina Kronis, with original music composed by Wes Myers.

The cast includes Paula Rebelo, Nikhil Pai, Prisca Kim, Mychel Scott, David Guerra, Eddie Vona, Isaiah Noriega, Alex Bravo, and Lamont Oakley. Production design credits include costumes by Ellen McCartney with assistant Victor Sandoval, scenic and sound design by Jeff Webster, lighting design by Aaron Francis and Johnny Montage, technical direction by Aaron Francis, and photography by David Haverty.

“Delphi” is part of the Getty Villa Museum’s ongoing theater program, which reimagines Greek and Roman classical works through staged readings, theater labs, premiere productions, and an annual outdoor performance series.

Theatre Movement Bazaar, founded in 1997 by Kronis and Alger, is a Los Angeles-based company known for combining dance, theater, and cinematic techniques to create physically driven storytelling. The company has produced 28 original works and has presented performances and workshops across the United States and internationally, including in the United Kingdom, Russia, and Asia.
