Santa Monica, Culver City, and West LA locations cited for vermin, sanitation issues, and unsafe food temperatures.
Health inspectors temporarily shut down several restaurants, markets, and coffee shops across Los Angeles County in February and March due to violations of the state food safety code, according to public health records.
Most of the closures were tied to vermin infestations, though some locations were cited for additional issues, including improper sanitation, sewage discharge, and unsafe food temperatures.
Several establishments have since reopened following corrective actions, while others remain closed pending compliance.
Among the locations cited:
In Culver City, a 7-Eleven at 10356 Venice Blvd. was closed Feb. 18 for a vermin infestation and reopened Feb. 20.
On the Westside, a 7-Eleven at 1519 S. Bundy Drive in Los Angeles was closed Feb. 25 for vermin and reopened March 3. ANS Liquor & Mini Market at 11701 W. Pico Blvd. was also ordered closed Feb. 25 for vermin infestation; a reopening date was not listed.
Multiple coffee and dining locations in Santa Monica and Playa Vista were also affected. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at 13020 Pacific Promenade in Playa Vista was closed Feb. 13 for vermin and reopened Feb. 17, while Coffee Commissary at 1402 Santa Monica Blvd. was closed Feb. 23 and reopened Feb. 27 for the same issue. Junior Cookies at 2726 Main St. in Santa Monica was closed Feb. 10 and reopened Feb. 12 due to vermin.
Elephante at 1332 2nd Street # C in Santa Monica was closed for a vermin infestation on January 20, 2026, and reopened on January 22, 2026.
In Los Angeles, several Fairfax-area businesses were cited. Fairfax Grocery at 511 N. Fairfax Ave. closed Feb. 4 and reopened Feb. 6, while Genghis Cohen at 448 N. Fairfax Ave. was closed March 6 and reopened March 9, both for vermin infestations.
Blackcraft Coffee at 457 N. Fairfax Ave. was closed March 5 after inspectors cited sewage discharge and a lack of proper cleaning and sanitizing methods.
Other closures included India’s Tandoori at 5468 W. Wilshire Blvd., closed Feb. 4 and reopened Feb. 6; Seven Nineteen by GS at 5630 W. Manchester Ave., closed Feb. 6 and reopened Feb. 13; and The Counter at 5779 Wilshire Blvd., closed Feb. 19 and reopened Feb. 26 — all for vermin-related violations.
Kumo Kitchen at 5583 W. Pico Blvd. was closed Feb. 12 due to a lack of proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures and reopened March 5.
Pizzeria Vivoli at 7994 Sunset Blvd. was shut down Feb. 9 for vermin infestation and reopened Feb. 14.
Eclipse at 3084 Pico Blvd. was closed March 5 and reopened March 10 following a vermin-related violation.
Some businesses remained closed as of the latest report. NADC Burger at 1091 Broxton Ave. in Westwood was ordered closed on March 11 for failing to submit required plans, with no reopening date listed. Ritrovo at 6020 S. Seabluff Drive in Playa Vista was closed March 10 for vermin infestation and had not yet reopened.
Samosa House at 2301 Main St. in Santa Monica was closed March 12 after inspectors cited unsafe food temperatures; a reopening date was not available.
Los Angeles County Department of Public Health officials conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and may order closures when conditions pose a risk to public health. Establishments are allowed to reopen once violations are corrected and approved by inspectors.
