The pop-up will be held at Petitgrain Boulangerie and combine Mexican and Middle Eastern flavors.

Camello will take over the kitchen at Petitgrain Boulangerie tomorrow for a limited lunch service featuring a unique crossover menu of Mexican-Middle Eastern sandwiches built on heirloom corn pitas.

The delicious event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the bakery located at 1209 Wilshire Blvd.

The menu has three pita sandwiches made from native corn varietals sourced from Oaxaca, Tlaxcala, and Veracruz. You have your choice of a chicken al pastor pita topped with miso labneh, hoja santa mast-o-khiar, and salsa cruda, or a vegetarian mesquite-roasted cauliflower asado seasoned with za’atar, black lime babaghanoush, and green quelite shatta.

A limited-run duck leg birria sandwich rounds out the offerings, paired with birria adobo, hoja santa mast-o-khiar, and avocado mousse.

The flatbreads contain no artificial food dyes or preservatives, drawing their color entirely from the natural shade of the corn. Camello sources its grains through independent farmers across both California and Mexico.
