The festivities begin with Pride on the Promenade, a series of drag brunches at 1212 Santa Monica featuring performances by local drag artists.
Third Street Promenade will be closed to vehicle traffic and transformed into a daylong celebration of Pride Month and live entertainment Saturday, with organizers expecting thousands of visitors to attend events stretching from morning through midnight.
The festivities begin with Pride on the Promenade, a series of drag brunches at 1212 Santa Monica featuring performances by local drag artists, live entertainment and community programming. Santa Monica Mayor Caroline Torosis and representatives from Downtown Santa Monica Inc. are expected to attend.
The evening will bring the return of Santa Monica Block Fest, an open-streets festival spanning all three blocks of the Promenade. The event will feature multiple live music stages, more than 20 food vendors, a night market and entertainment throughout downtown.
Organizers expect more than 5,000 attendees at the free event, which runs from 5 p.m. until midnight.
The festival lineup includes performances by electronic music artists and DJs including BIJOU, AUTOGRAF, Haylee Wood, Justin Irsby and Sirens. Food vendors scheduled to participate include Villa’s Tacos, Sevan Kebab House and Shake Ramen.
