D-Fenders Select Loyola’s Worthy:

Brandon Worthy, a 6-foot-2 guard from Loyola Marymount University, has been selected by the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBA Development League’s annual draft.

Worthy will join the D-Fenders in their upcoming training camp and is likely to make the team’s roster. The D-Fenders play home games at Staples Center as preliminaries to Laker games and many graduates of the league have advanced to the NBA.

Worthy was one of the best guards in the West Coast Conference the last two seasons until an injury cut his senior year short. In his absence the Lions limped to a dismal season and a coaching change was made.

Both Loyola and Pepperdine, which also has a new coach, hope to improve significantly this season.
