Local Sculptor Dies at 70:

Robert Graham, a famous Mexican-American sculptor, passed away at the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. Graham had many pieces of work around the country, which include: the life-size bronze sculpture of U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in a wheelchair at the Roosevelt Memorial in Washington; two headless figures known as the “Olympic Gateway” at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles; a memorial to jazz composer, pianist and bandleader Duke Ellington in New York’s Central Park; and The Great Bronze Doors and statue of Mary at the Cathedral of Our Lady of The Angeles in Los Angeles. The sculpture pictured above is unnamed which is the only sculpture Graham has in his hometown of Venice. Graham was married to actress Angelica Houston.
