Six Samohi Football Players Make First Team All League:

Six members of the 2008 Santa Monica High football team have been named to the all-Ocean League first team.

Offensive linemen Amar Pal and Nick Rimicci and running back Christian Ross were chosen on offense. The defensive honorees are linebackers Keelan Malone and Luke Zelon and kicker Jake Schmidt.

Six more Vikings were second-team selections.

Lineman Max Klein and receiver Terry Wilson were rewarded for their play on offense. The defensive honorees are end Brennan Erleziak, linebackers Drew Hammond and Wylie O’Neal, and defensive back Jackson Knox.

Several of these players are deciding on a college destination. Football letters of intent can be signed early in February.

Samohi had an 8-3 record. The Vikings qualified for the CIF playoffs by finishing third in the league.

Samohi is in the process of selecting a new head coach after the resignation of Zach Cuda.

St. Monica, which fired Sean Ritter following a 1-9 season, is also seeking a new coach.

Ironically, after St. Monica scored its only win, a 21-19 victory over Salesian, that school also made a coaching change.
