Emergency Helicopter Landing on Santa Monica Beach:

A helicopter made an emergency landing on Thursday evening, at about 7:30 p.m. on Santa Monica Beach, near the border with Venice Beach. The pilot had been experiencing mechanical issues and had decided to make the landing as a precautionary measure. The helicopter was carrying two passengers in addition to the pilot. There were no reported injuries to anyone on board the helicopter, or anyone on the beach. The Mirror spoke with Officer Davis of The Santa Monica Harbor Patrol who said that he had “noticed the helicopter flying slowly over the pier and shortly after we heard the radio call that a helicopter had made an emergency landing on the beach. The pier being as crowded as it was, when we arrived, the helicopter had been secured and both passengers were safe. We later learned that the FAA was being consulted for advice on how to proceed re-locating the helicopter.”
