Brentwood Defeats Crossroads Boys:

In the final game of Friday’s Extravaganza, when fans stormed the court to congratulate the winners in each contest of the Crossroads-Brentwood rivalry, it was the visitors who celebrated.

The Brentwood boys basketball team defeated Crossroads, 63-52.

These are quality teams. Brentwood now has a 7-3 record and Crossroads is 11-5.

The difference was the presence of Mack Fraser, Brentwood’s 6-foot-6 junior center. He scored 11 pounts, and his aggressive play forced Crossroads center Chester Lindley to foul out.

Lindley, who is 6-foot-5, explosive and active, recently was a tournament MVP. But he picked up two early goals and wasn’t as much of a factor as usual.

Crossroads coach Kevin Jackson was quite active, carrying on a running dialogue with the officials and becoming so frustrated on one play he intentionally fell to the floor, landing on his back.

The intensity was such that the rooting sections tried to drown each other out. Victory was so precious that fans came onto the court to celebrate Crossroads’ narrow win in the junior varsity game.

For the varsity, guard Simon Brooks led Brentwood with 22 points, including 10 for 10 on free throws. Guard Luke Shumuger was Crossroads’ high scorer with 16 points. Forward Josh Flyer scored 11 points and Lindley had 10.
