Alert: Police Blotter:

A Hoodlum, On A Hood.

On Thursday, July 29, at 2:05 a.m., officers responded to a report of vandalism in the 2900 block of Main Street. A man (the victim) had returned to his parked vehicle, whereupon he had discovered someone (the suspect) sitting on the hood of his vehicle. The owner requested that the suspect remove himself forthwith from the hood. In response, the suspect became belligerent and began to bounce up and down upon the hood, thus causing a considerable dent and a crack in the windshield, damage that was estimated to be approximately $1000.00.

As the victim was narrating this tale to the officers, he also informed them that the suspect was standing just 100 feet away. The suspect, realizing he had been spotted, left the area with cops in pursuit, who apprehended the in the area of Pacific Street and Navy Court in Venice (after the victim had positively identified the suspect). The cops arrested this 27-year-old vandal of no fixed abode, and took him off to the Santa Monica jail where he was charged with felony vandalism and public intoxication. His bail is $20,000.

Raid Leads To Charges.

On Friday, July 30, at 5:30 p.m. a chemical weapon incident occurred on the Santa Monica Pier concerning a dispute with some pier performers (who are typically individuals who attempt to entertain members of the public with unsolicited exhibitions of their talents, talents that display varying degrees of proficiency it often appears, with the intent of furnishing passing observers with such satisfying moments that they will donate an amount of cash to the performers as a way of displaying their pleasure with said performances). A performer was waiting (for some mysteriously undisclosed item or person) in the pier parking lot, when someone approached and proceeded to spray this performer, and others that were present, with “Raid” bug spray. This Raid-er followed the primary performer, and repeatedly sprayed him, with clear attempts specifically target his face, even though this victim had many times requested that the sprayer curtail this inappropriate, and possibly dangerous activity, presumably because it was, amongst other things, seriously bugging him. Officers were summoned and, after receiving statements from witnesses, arrested a 64-year-old man Raid-er, from Hollywood, for assault with a deadly weapon, as well as the more specific charge of assault with caustic chemicals. His bail was $50,000.
