On Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 9:58 p.m. an officer was patrolling the area of Lincoln Boulevard and Ocean Park Boulevard when he saw a cyclist riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. As this cyclist approached Ocean Park Boulevard another cyclist riding in the correct manner (on the roadway, as cycling on the sidewalk is prohibited) was there.
The first cyclist then began to shout indiscernible locutions at the second cyclist. After that the second cyclist approached the officer and told the officer that he thought there was something wrong with the first cyclist.
The officer then approached this cycling vocalist and asked him to stop. The shouter responded to this request by asking whether the officer had an intention of having sexual intercourse with him and if this was the officer’s intention, then this cyclist said he would kill him, and also kill his children (it should be noted that the first cyclist’s inquiry with the officer was presented in a more colloquial fashion, using words that can only be described as vulgar).
The officer exited his vehicle at that point, and all the while the first cyclist continued to threaten him, and use obscene language. The cyclist then began to approach the officer, so the officer advised him that if he did not stop he would be forced to do so by the use of the officer’s taser. The cyclist did stop, and the officer handcuffed him, all the while to the accompaniment of abuse from the cyclist, who was in a combative nature.
This 29-year-old cyclist was thus arrested and charged with criminal threats, resisting arrest, and riding on the sidewalk. His bail was set at $50,000.
