DOWNEY – With four runs in their top half of the sixth inning the Samohi
Vikings Girls Softball team were mounting a come back, and were now trailing
by only 2 runs, but in the bootom half of the inning they gave up 10 runs and ended
up losing 16-4. It was probably their worse defeat of the season.
One bright spot in the game was senior Natalie Abel, who went two for three on the day
with 4 RBI and a home run.
Trailing only by one run, Downey was able to put together two separate offensive attacks with
five runs in the fifth, followed by ten runs in the sixth. It was too much for the
Vikings to overcome as they lost their eighth game and are 3-8 on the season.
Next game is Tues. April 12, when they play the Inglewood Sentinels at Inglewood High starting
at 3:15 p.m.
