Man Shows Too Much at Beach Showers: APB: Over Exposed

On Sunday, May 1, at 2:27 p.m., officers went to the 1600 block of the beach, in response to a report that a man had been exposing himself (there are no nudist beaches in Santa Monica). The officers were told that the man had been showing his personal parts while he was showering near the restrooms adjacent to a children’s play area.

In order to lay bare the facts of the matter and uncover the truth about what had occurred, the officers interviewed a number of victims who witnessed to the man’s display. The officers learned from these people that the man was using the beach public showers to shower himself, and in doing so had his buttocks several times. The witnesses also stated that there were many children in the play area that was located less than 20 feet away.

The suspect, a 33-year-old homeless man, was placed under a private person’s arrest, and charged with indecent exposure. His bail was set at $500.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com
