Another Sexual Assault in Santa Monica:

With a second sexual assault in an as many days, the Santa Monica Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying and locating another suspect an incident that occurred on July 4.

Between 4 p.m. and 4:20 p.m., a sexual battery occurred in a carport in the area of Wilshire Boulevard and Euclid Avenue. The victim had just pulled her vehicle into her carport, opened the door and prepared to exit, when she was approached by the suspect who stood between her and the vehicle door. The suspect reached in the vehicle and began groping her breasts and crotch area. The victim was able to get away from the suspect and get into her apartment without further incident. The suspect then left the area in a vehicle.

“At this time Investigators do not believe that this assault is related to the earlier release involving the assault on Pearl (Street),” said Sgt. Richard Lewis, the department’s public information officer, said in an e-mail. On July 6, only two days after this carport incident, a woman was raped while walking through the quiet Sunset Park neighborhood in the evening.

The suspect in this carport incident is described as a male, white or light skinned Hispanic, ruddy complexion, 5’9” tall, 150 pounds, wearing a white baseball cap turned backwards, no shirt and blue jeans. The suspect is described as very fit, and having a tattoo of a woman’s face on the left side of his chest, as well as tattoos on his right bicep and right side of his abdomen. The vehicle being driven by the suspect is described as a newer, shiny, white sport model Toyota or Honda.

The suspect in the July 6 was described as a white male, 25-30 years of age, 5’8”-5’10” tall, 140-150 pounds, with blonde short curly hair, blue or green eyes, and wearing what appeared to be a full one piece black wet suit or similar type suit that covered his neck to his ankles.

The initial investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Brown at 310.458.8960, Sergeant Jacob at 310.458.8460 or the Santa Monica Police Department (24hours) at 310.458.8495.
