Santa Monica’s Ocean Park Library Promotes Summer Reading with Puppets: Puppet Show Gets Kids to Keep Reading

The Ocean Park Library held a puppet show last week to help promote their Summer Reading Program.

The Ocean Park Branch Library’s Summer Reading Program used Santa Monica’s own “Mr. Jesse” Nathaniel and his seasonal puppet show to inform the kids of the community of the importance of continuing to read.

Branch manager Karen Reitz said reading over the summer can keep up kids’ reading levels before heading back to school in the fall.

The Summer Reading Program runs until Aug. 28. For a list of upcoming events at the library, go to

smpl.org or contact the Youth Services Department at (310) 458-8621.
