On Thursday, August 18, at 7:35 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to an apartment on the 1600 block of Appian Way in order to investigate a report of an assault that had occurred. When they arrived at the scene, the officers spoke with the victim. The victim told the officers that a neighbor who lived above them had been banging on the floor continuously for several hours.
The victim had eventually complained to the apartment manager about the noise. When the manager returned to speak to the victim after communicating the complaint to the neighbor, the neighbor had followed the manager, and pushed his way into the victim’s apartment and had then pushed the victim several times before leaving. The officers completed their investigation, and arrested the 42-year-old neighbor under a private person’s arrest. This man was charged with assault and battery and his bail was set at $20,000.
